Red’s relish

in the beginning…
December 1st, 2008 by Marc

Blog Blog Blog….right, I’ve left this for far too long, time to face my demons…no thats not you Joke (my wonderful web designer you’ll find her at http://www.jokedewinter.co.uk/ or just click on her name below).

As I’ve been such a slacker with this over the last year I’m now going to do a quick re-cap and bring anybody who reads it into the present, hold tight, it may be a whirlwind tour full of typo’s and out of focus images, but I’ll try and tell you what I’ve been up to in the last year, well it is about me after all isn’t it?

I might mention others as I go, but that’s only if a) they’ve paid me, b) provided ‘favours’ (you’ll have to guess on that one) or c) inspired me in any number of ways!

I will also ensure I get more images uploaded as I go along, but lets do the text for starters and the visuals will follow!

Right..clock winds back to the Autumn…

In October I headed out to a place called Usti Nad Labem in the Czech Republic to take a place studying for an MA in Photography, luckily the first real year of a taught English programme, check out the links on the left, both for the city, good old Nothern town about an hour North of Praha (Prague…lets make the effort), built on industry, the river Labem (Elbe in Germany), coal mines, a chemical plant in the middle of town (not as bad as the Simpsons…I hope), a large Romany community…not sounding too good, but get this, it’s cheap to live and the scenery surrounding it is absolutely beautiful…oh and the university is supposed to be quite good too….bit like the RCA but different! Check out the links for a nosey!

No idea what was said, but am sure it was all good...lol!

In November I got the chance to exhibit in a show celebrating the 15th Anniversary of the opening of the Arts Faculty, and quite a prestigious event it was too. The show took place at the one of the buildings that form the National Gallery in Prague, in this case the Veletržního paláce, an enormous building of contemporary arts. It benefited from press conferences and some wonderful opening night refreshments, certainly the biggest thing I’ve been involved in before!

    Hi Anne,

Congratulations, you’ve won a prize (yet to be decided so don’t hold your breath) for being the first to comment on here!

You’ve also detected a major flaw in my website…the fact that I’ve not got the text side of it all up and running. But keep coming back and you’ll soon see how I get going.

I’m currently over in the Czech Rep and will no doubt find the time to give you more info in the next few days!

    Cheers,

    Red

    Hello Nancy,

Thank you for your comments, they are much appreciated. As for your interest in the de-familiarised image, I am currently working on a series of abstract images that do just that, they will be posted very shortly so do keep coming back to check!

I look forward to your future comments!
